The team confirmed development was ongoing again in July 2020. Square Enix President Yosuke Matsuda confirmed in February 2020 the slight delay of the release of FF7 Remake would not impact the timeline for the next installment. The first game’s director Tetsuya Nomura previously confirmed via a blog post that development was in full swing by November 2019. “We just started the 25th anniversary of Final Fantasy VII, so we want to celebrate and get fans excited, so within the next 12 months, we want to share some information,” Kitase wrote. In a post celebrating the 25th anniversary of Final Fantasy 7, producer Yoshinori Kitase confirmed Square Enix would reveal Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 2 sometime in 2022.
